- Walkers can join for the entire two weeks, a weekend or just a few hours.
- We will be walking at a steady pace for about 8 hours per day, with multiple rest stops.
- Bikes, skates, and wheelchairs are welcome (If you bring a bike, you should be willing to escort the bike the entire time you are in the march).
- Food and drinks will be provided at a small cost, now estimated at $5 – $10 per meal.
- People with vegan/raw food/gluten free dietary restrictions will have options (we will be traveling from one health food store or farmers’ market to another).
- Walkers will bring their own tents and sleeping bags, which will be carried by the support vehicles, Camping arrangements will be made ahead of time.
- Exciting events will be held along the way; stay tuned for announcements on presenters and musical acts.
- Campers will have a chance to bathe in the All-One Ark, the “Interblastive Foam Shower and Spa Experience!”
What to Bring
Marching
Join the March for a week, a weekend, or just a few hours. Don’t forget your:
- Comfortable walking shoes – you should practice walking all day in these shoes to be sure they do not give you blisters before committing to wear them all day on the March
- Comfy, lightweight, weather-appropriate clothing and a sun hat
- A small backpack, or, even better: a CamelBak-type water backpack
- Eating utensils, plate/bowl, pocket knife, and a hand towel
- A camera
- Cash for food, camping fees, and incidental expenses
- A smile, and a short statement about why you are participating in the March!
Camping
Persons camping with the March do not need to worry about reserving campsites ahead of time, nor carrying the gear while marching. Please bring the following gear in you plan to camp with us:
- Tent
- Sleeping bag/pillow
- Sleeping pad
- One piece luggage/suitcase with clothes, toiletries, and a shower towel
Prepare for the Elements
Depending on the weather predicted for the week of October 1-16, you may consider bringing the following:
- Rain jacket or poncho
- Warm layers
- Sun protection
Medical Necessities
The R2K March coordinators will bring a full-time medic and a comprehensive first aid kit, but if you might be in need of specific medicine, you should bring it.
